The Maxima Irish Coffee

The Maxima Irish Coffee

Irish coffee is a typical Irish cocktail. Its origins date back to 1942, when the head chief of the restaurant and coffee bar of Shannon airport in Ireland, Joseph Sheridan, decided to make a very strong coffee with sugar, whiskey and an addition of cream, in order to warm up the tired and angry passengers whose flights were canceled for bad weather.

When the passengers asked him if it was Brazilian coffee, Mr. Sheridan replied with amusement: “No, it’s Irish coffee!”…and here’s the name!

Even today, the Irish coffee is one of the most famous coffee cocktails in the world, great for warming long winters.

On the occasion of the St. Patrick’s Day on March 17th, Torrefazione Morandini wants to offer you its exclusive recipe.

Preparation time: 5 minutes

Difficulty: medium – low

Ingredients for n. 1 Maxima Irish Coffee:

25 ml of Irish whiskey

2 cups of espresso Maxima

2 teaspoons of granulated sugar cane

Fresh or liquid cream just enough

Whipped cream

Cinnamon

Preparation:

1. Mix sugar and whiskey into a little pot and bring to a boil.

2. Pour the mixture of the point n. 1 into a warmed glass.

3. Prepare a sufficiently long espresso Maxima coffee (about 2 cups) and add it to the whiskey……remember to leave room for the cream!

4. Whip the fresh cream with a shaker until it is quite frothy.

5. Slowly pour the cream onto the coffee (help yourself with a teaspoon); it is important that coffee and cream don’t mix together.

6. If you want, add a little whipped cream and a sprinkling of cinnamon.
