Caffè Morandini’s custard

With the approach of Christmas Holidays, Caffè Morandini wants to share with you an easy and delicious recipe: a coffee custard that you can taste alone or together with other Italian typical sweets like pandoro or panettone.

EASY

PREP: 10/15 minutes


 


INGREDIENTS:


– 300 ml whole milk (if possible fresh milk)

– 100 ml coffee (Primo Aroma 100% Arabica blend)

– n. 3 egg yolks

– 100 gr sugar (add at your pleasure)

– 50 gr cornstarch

– n. 1 vanilla stick



METHOD


1) Make Morandini coffee.


2) Let the milk simmer in a little pot with the vanilla stick and, than, add Morandini coffee.


3) Meanwhile, in a large bowl, whisk the yolks, sugar and the sifted cornstarch.


4) Remove the vanilla stick from the milk and pour the sugar mixture (point 3) into it stirring all the while, over a slow flame, until obtaining a thick cream with no lumps.


5) At this point, you can take the pot off and pour the cream in a bowl; let it cool to room temperature, before putting it into the fridge.


Recommendation from Torrefazione Morandini: while cooling, cover the cream with a film touching it, to prevent the skin on the top of the cream from forming.
